What is the Sunflower Fund at SSCM?

The ministry of our school community is to help our children to grow, to “bloom” to their full potential. In these days of tight school budgets, our teachers would love to ask for some help in providing the instructional materials for dynamic classroom lessons that will engage the children and make them excited to learn. We invite you to plant the seeds of learning by contributing to our “Sunflower Fund.” Your donation will help fund some of the projects and purchases listed below:

In fifth grade, we begin to introduce students to departmental classes. They will have Mrs. Walsh, Mr. Senatore, and Mrs. Cowan for their major subject areas. Highlights in some of these subjects include:

• Nursery/PreK Alphabet Carpets : Our little ones will be able to stand on a carpet to learn their letters and numbers!  Cost $300
• New Toys for Our Early Childhood Center : We have almost 70 students registered for our nursery and PreK programs and would like to purchase some new educational toys, puzzles, blocks, and games.  Cost $400
• Dell Laptop for Student Newspaper Reporters: We would like to have a weekly update of school news on our website that will be written and edited by some of our middle school students.  They need a PC laptop equipped with Microsoft FrontPage to do this.  Cost $1,200

You can contribute all or part of the cost of a project, and all donations will be acknowledged in our yearly Sunflower Fund Program!  Please make checks payable to Ss. Cyril and Methodius School, and indicate that it is for the Sunflower Fund.

Send your company’s form to us, along with your donation and we will complete our portion, and return it to your company.
